Sympozium ART-IN-RES 2025 Program

The symposium follows the successful completion of support programs under the National Recovery Plan (NPO), which have significantly accelerated the development of cultural and creative centres, as well as art residency providers in the Czech Republic. It is also a natural continuation of the annual ART-IN-RES symposia, regularly organized by Nová síť, which serves as a key platform for exchanging experiences and sharing best practices in the field of artistic and managerial residencies.

  • Evaluating the impacts of the NPO on cultural infrastructure and creative residencies.
  • Sharing experiences and examples of good practice from the Czech Republic and abroad.
  • Proposing long-term strategies for the development of residency programs and their sustainability.
  • Connecting cultural and regional development through collaboration between the state, regions, and residency center operators/providers.

The symposium also seeks to raise awareness about the importance of residency programs as a tool for supporting artistic creation, regional identity, and international cooperation.

  • Stefania Dolcini, Program Manager – Idra Theatre, Italy: Presentation of the national residency support program I.DRA.
    • Nuria Albelda, Manager for International Relations and Residencies – Inestable, Spain: Presentation of the successful residency space Inestable.
    • Martin Marciňa project manager, Visegrad fund: Presentation of the fund and its support opportunities for artistic residencies.

    • Tereza Sieglová, Official, Department of Arts, Libraries, and Creative Industries (Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic): Current support opportunities for artistic residencies (providers and participants), possible future prospects, and implementation of trends into State Cultural Policy (building on the previous policy).
    • Anna Hořejší (Program Director, ECCC České Budějovice) and Markéta Hrdlička Málková (Head Curator of the ART Farm Project): Good practices from the regions and experiences with maintaining residency programs, current status, etc.
    • Radim Sršeň (Deputy Minister) – Ministry for Regional Development: Support opportunities for cultural initiatives from the perspective of regional development.

    • Juraj Augustín, CO.LABS – Brno, operator of a residency center: Practical experience in operation, strategies after reconstruction funded by the NPO, goals and plans, sustainability of the entire project.
    • Karolína Koubová, SE.S.TA – Žďár nad Sázavou Castle, operator of a residency center: Sustainability strategies after reconstruction funded by the NPO, collaboration with other centers.

    • Natálie Černá, Specialist for Science, Research, and Innovation at Czech Centres: Presentation of the upcoming research for the Manual of Sustainable Residencies.

    Moderators: Adriana Světlíková (Director of Nová síť) and Markéta Málková (Director and Curator of REZI.DANCE Komařice).

        Discussion on key topics:

        • Implementation of funding for large cultural and creative centers (CCCs) and residency houses after the NPO ends.
        • Funding, operation, and marketing of residencies. marketing rezidencí.
        • The role of cities, regions, and the state in supporting cultural infrastructure.
        • Residencies as an artistic showcase of the Czech Republic – examples of good practice.
