Apply for the first OPEN CALL of Žižkostel! We are selecting 2 projects: one for spring and one for fall 2025.
WHO ARE WE?
Žižkostel is a newly renovated community center in the heart of Žižkov, offering a wide range of activities and social services. The Main hall, dedicated to the arts, is curated by dramaturg Alžběta Tichá and produced by Jakub Urban. Zuzana Malina and Helena Urban are also involved in the dramaturgical board and other activities. Our primary mission is to support professionals, especially in contemporary circus, physical theatre, and dance.
WHAT WE OFFER:
- A 3-day mini-residency before the premiere, a premiere, and two reprises in 2025
- Free rental, you will only pay for actual costs such as technicians, electricity, etc., if we get funding, we will cover those also
- Access to the main hall at Žižkostel, equipped with a ballet floor or wooden flooring (as needed), heated flooring, a sound system, basic theatre lighting – more info: Žižkostel Equipment
- The space includes a dressing room, kitchenette, and the option to store scenography on site upon agreement
- Height: 7 m, rigging points
- Mats and tatami are available upon request
- Seating for the audience, which can be arranged to meet your needs
- We will provide a letter of cooperation for your grant applications
- Please note that we do not provide accommodation or cover travel expenses for residents
WHO CAN APPLY?
We primarily target artists from the field of circus, physical theatre and dance.
WHAT WE REQUIRE:
- Premiere and two reprises of your project in 2025.
- Recognition of Žižkostel as a project partner.
HOW TO APPLY:
Submit your completed application form by October 6, 2024. Results will be announced by October 13, 2024.

To complete the form, prepare the following:
- Your CV/resume
- A VIDEO (MAX 5 minutes) INCLUDING 2 SECTIONS – YOUR INTRODUCTION AND VIDEO MATERIAL:
- Introduce yourself and your project, describe its current stage, and briefly outline the process leading to the premiere.
- Include pieces of the project you wish to premiere at Žižkostel. If you don´t have any, share samples of your previous work.
- Upload the video to YOUTUBE or VIMEO, or share a Google Drive link.
Submissions that are late or do not meet the open call criteria will not be considered.
