Studio ALTA is opening its annual residency program for 2022 in the west wing of Karlin’s Invalidovna as a multi-layered house. As a house that offers cultivation of one’s own practice, focused work on the creative process, as well as a place to rest or building relation with one’s immediate environments.

The residencies in ALTA will open up in four blocks:

••• 1 | House of Focus [4th-17th February + october-november]

Up to two productions* in the advanced or final stages of the process will be selected for the program (one for the February term and one for the fall term). We offer 14 days in the rehearsal room with technical support, dramaturgical consultation and promotion of the final output (work-in-progress or premiere) with the possibility of further collaboration.

••• 2 | House of Rest [9th – 15th May]

A special residency designed for all industry professionals and supporting professions who feel overwhelmed, pressured by the need for constant production or just looking for a zone of calm for their own thoughts. We offer the residential spa as an opportunity to slow down, recalibrate your own practice, or laze. The content of the residency is completely arbitrary with no output required.

Applications to The House of Rest are obliged to fill in only the first part /bio/ and the ‘personal context’ in the second part /(art)work/.

••• 3 | House of Research [1st – 10th July]

House of Research is a ten-day residency program designed to facilitate individual artistic research while creating a framework for sharing practice. The space of the lab is a means to isolate the research from the need to focus on its results, to create a surface for experimentation and deep immersion in the researched topic. It is also a shared surface for the exchange of knowledge, doubts, inspirations and a challenge to create structures of mutual support. Up to 4 researchers* will be invited to the program with access to the technical equipment and shared studio.

••• 4 | House of Kinship [july-august]

The fourth block is dedicated to any artistic and theoretical processes that are related to the public space, the garden of ALTA or the adjacent parks as well as community-oriented projects. 1 to 2 processes* will be selected and will be provided with 14 days of residency in the ALTA garden and/or rehearsal room, including technical and promotional support with the possibility of establishing further collaboration.
