THE LOCATION:
- We offer a professional rehearsal room (for music, dance, and theatre) and artist residencies at the Velvary Cube (Velvarská Kostka), located in the building of a former synagogue built in 1930-31 based on design of a Prague architect František A. Libra. It is a functionalist building with a square floorplan, with three circular windows (one was walled up). The building is located on the edge of the city of Velvary (3.000 inhabitants), about 300 m from the city square. Velvary is situated 35 km north of Prague. Velvary is easily accessible from Prague by train, with transfer in Kralupy nad Vltavou (it takes about an hour from downtown Prague), or by car taking road D8, exit 18, and then about 7 km directly to Velvary.
STUDIOS / REHEARSAL ROOMS:
- The building includes a room on the first floor (about 6 × 9.5 m), and possibly a classroom (about 5 × 5 m) on the ground floor. On the ground floor, there are two rooms: one with a sofa bed, tables and chairs, and a small kitchenette, and the other intended more for artistic activities. Around the building, there is a small garden with a bench. Max. 8 people.
ACCOMMODATION:
- Accommodation possible at Velvary Cube sleeping in your own sleeping bag and mat, or there is also possible sleep on double sofa bed. It is possible to use the shower at the local Sokol Hall (5 min walk).
SERVICES:
- Internet, yoga mats, projector.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Arts residencies need to be adjusted to fit the program that regularly takes place at Kostka. Weekends are usually available, while only certain times are free during the workweek.
