THE LOCATION:
- The Moving Station is a distinctive, Pilsen-based alternative scene for contemporary theatre, dance, and interdisciplinary art experiments. Since 2000 it has hosted artists from all over the world. It is an inspiring space housed in an impressive, revitalized historic building from 1904, a former railway station Pilsen–South, now managed by Johan—a centre for contemporary art and education. The 2015 renovation introduced a space that allows— through artists residencies—for an expansion of the network of collaborating artists and support of new talents. The Moving Station’s core spaces include a theatre hall, coffee shop, conference room, and a spacious Secession-style entry hall. Our activities aim to support independent art productions with focus on theatre, dance, multimedia, and performing arts. Through our projects we strive to increase the public’s awareness of what is happening around the world and in a place where we live. Art is a challenge for us, a clear voice expressing humanistic values and stances.
STUDIOS / REHEARSAL ROOMS:
- Theatre hall – a ‘black box’ (20 × 10 × 6(h) m) with a variable elevation; an auditorium for up to 120 people; the standard layout of the stage is 10(w) × 8(d) m. There is basic theatre equipment available (the extent of its use to be discussed per project), and permanent attachments are built in the ceiling of the hall for aerial arts. The ceiling height is 6 m.
ACCOMMODATION:
- We offer accommodation in attic studio directly at the Moving Station.
